2004- Club Night
A nice surprise
tonight as some old faces popped in for a visit. Grant Rawson,
a former member of our club, came to visit as he sometimes does.
Grant gave Meagan some competition in the 50m Fly just to keep her
on her toes! Our former assistant coach, Garry Baglin, also
came to watch the night's swimming. It is great to have Garry still
taking an interest in our swimmers even though he is back to his
regular day job now - exploring in the outback is about as far away
as you can get from being a swim coach! Thank you for your continued
interest as it is very much appreciated by the swimmers and their
parents.
Good luck to
those swimmers who will be competing at the Campbelltown meet on
Sunday.
Queen's
Birthday Swim Meets
This weekend
has seen some of our swimmers travel to meets near and far. A small
band of travellers went to the McCredie Pk 8/under (are we
there yet?) Sam Fowler, Conor Davis, Daniel Davis, Travis Jemmeson
and Katelyn Kishawi were our representatives on the day. Katelyn had
a great afternoon winning the 7 yr Fly and a medal in the
Breaststroke. What a wonderful bonus for someone who decided to go
at the last minute so that the club could field a relay team! The
swim of the day would have to go to 7 yr old Sam Fowler who has
taken 8 seconds off his 100m IM the last 2 days. Congratulations to
our 8/u Medley relay team (Conor, Sam, Katelyn and Travis) for
winning Bronze in the relay. This has always been a great meet to
attend with little ones and was well worth the drive.
The SLC
Aquadot meet was successful with our team of 10 swimmers winning
11 Gold, 8 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. This was a very pleasing
result considering that 2 of our swimmers were competing out of
their age groups and one swimmer went home sick after only one
event. Congratulations to Brigitta Schyns who won multiple medals
and swam as many PB's and to Zac Fowler on achieving his Freestyle
State Qualifying times in both the 50m and 100m.
Lucy and
Jessica Ford were in Kiama and just thought they would do a
meet while they were there. Lucy swam a Fly PB and won 3 medals so
that was a nice bonus.
11th
June 2004 – Club night
The long
weekend had an impact on club numbers tonight but it was still a
good turnout with 43 swimmers attending. Races were all over in an
hour! Amazingly, some swimmers raced 4 events in this time and still
did multiple PB’s.
Congratulations
to Cassandra Blake who swam 100% Pb’s tonight. There were also some
wonderful IM swims with Logan Weir, Hannah Buchanan and Grace
Strawbridge and Travis Jemmeson all taking many seconds off their
PB’s.
Club records
were also broken tonight with Barbara Efremova lowering her own 11
yr 100m Free record and Sam Fowler taking the 7 yr 50m Free record
